TRAIN-THE-TRAINER PROGRAMME: A GRASSROOT IMPACT IN RURAL ANGOLA

The project launched its trainer programme on the 1st of September. It will train VET trainers in Ghana, São Tomé, and Angola in circular economy, innovation, and entrepreneurship courses.

It will train students from four different schools in Angola through VIS Angola, a partner of the project and a non-profit organisation known for promoting capacity building through vocational training activities in public and private schools. The 3-month training will teach 20 trainers from the schools in pedagogical upskilling, technical waste management skills, circular business models, micro-entrepreneurship, frugal and digital innovation, and public-private partnerships.

The module-based learning includes detailed materials, videos, and live sessions in Portuguese, participating schools include: VTC Dom Bosco, Dondo city, Cuanza Sul Province, VTC Dom Bosco, Benguela City, Benguela Province, VCT INEFOP – CENFOCC, and VCT INEFOP – Centro Femenino do Rangel from Luanda, Luanda Province. Both trainers and students have shown great enthusiasm as they start their green skills development journey with the project.

The launch session was marked by a strong sense of curiosity and commitment, as participants shared their aspirations to apply the training to real-world community challenges.

During a conversation with the trainers, Valeria Appolloni from VIS Angola reported that many trainers expressed how the programme will equip them with technical and pedagogical skills and innovative teaching methods to make circular economy and entrepreneurship concepts more relatable to their students.

“I think that entrepreneurship training is very useful to inspire my students to think big,”  a trainer stated.  emphasising how the programme encourages learners to identify local challenges and turn them into viable business opportunities.
