The CircuWasteVETAfrica project prepares to implement a train-the-trainer programme on Circular Economy across countries

With the launch of the Train the Trainer implementation approaching, preparation of the course contents is in full swing, as partners are ready to begin training across all targeted African countries.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, the CircuwasteVETAfrica project will begin its train-the-trainer programme implementation.

The 3-month intensive training is designed to equip 60 trainers from Centro de Formação Profissional de São Tomé e Príncipe, São Tome, Presbyterian Relief Services and Development Ghana, and VIS Angola with skills and knowledge from six newly developed modules. A 100-hour course that will help trainers build job-ready skills in circular economy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, delivered in English and Portuguese, covering aspects such as pedagogical upskilling, technical waste management skills, circular business models, micro-entrepreneurship, frugal and digital innovation, and public-private partnerships.

For this training, the project adopts a blended approach, combining synchronous and asynchronous methods, which allows participants to learn through live sessions and self-paced study through the Smart Step e-learning platform developed by Apodissi. It will take place in two separate editions, one for Portuguese-speaking countries and one for English-speaking countries, promoting an inclusive and effective training experience.

With CNOS-FAP as the lead partners of this task, the first session will be taken by Luca Finelli, an instructor from the organisation, followed by instructors from AREA, MQ, and Swakopmund Municipality.

By the end of the training, participants will gain proficiency in curriculum delivery, classroom management, and innovative teaching methodologies. Moreover, this approach will foster a sustainable model of capacity building, empowering educators to pass knowledge and skills to their peers, thereby creating a multiplier effect within their various VET schools. By January 2026, applications for the students programme will begin across these countries.
