São Tomé supports the Green transition through CircuwasteVETAfrica  project

Centro de Formação Profissional de São Tomé e Príncipe in São Tomé is a VET-recognised school based in São Tomé that has joined forces with other project partners to promote vocational training education in the green sector.

The Erasmus+ project, funded by the European Commission, kicked off at the beginning of the year and has since been working towards achieving its objectives through the efforts of its dynamic partnerships across Europe and Africa.

Since launching its activities in 2002, the organisation has conducted 637 training actions, benefiting over 10,000 individuals, including unemployed youth, single mothers, civil servants, and those seeking to re-enter the job market. In 2024, the Centre began decentralising training programmes to reach remote communities, starting with a pilot course titled “Practices of Information Technology from the User’s Perspective.”

As a key partner in CircuWasteVETAfrica, CFP-STP leads and supports multiple work packages, which include the training of trainers programme, and subsequently will lead the recruitment of students, deliver a 120-hour hands-on pilot course designed to enhance environmental awareness and job readiness at the latter stage of the project.

The efforts of CFP-STP are led by Miltom Lima, Executive Director, and supported by Aicha Espirito Santo, Secretáriat at the centre. Their leadership and coordination have been instrumental in aligning vocational training efforts with the growing need for green skills and sustainable development in São Tomé and Príncipe.
