CircuwasteVETAfrica TRAIN – THE – TRAINER IMPLEMENTATION Kick-Off

On the 1st of September, the project welcomed all trainers from the partner schools for the Train the Trainers programme with an introductory session. The three-month training programme is set to equip trainers with in-demand skills in green waste management and Circular Economy.

To prepare them, the project organised an introductory session to the course and the training calendar throughout the learning period.

The targeted countries involved Angola, São Tomé, and Ghana, with 29 trainers in attendance from Ramseyer Vocational and Technical Institute, Ghana, Centro de Formação Profissional de São Tomé e Príncipe, São Tomé, and VCT Inefop, Cenfocc Luanda, Luanda Province.

During the Ghana trainers session facilitated by Margherita Trestini, Marketing Director, AREA and Benedetta Cassarini (CNOS), the leading the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme.

They spoke on the importance of equipping trainers with both technical expertise and practical teaching tools to ensure long-term impact. “This programme will help you as trainers to become catalysts for change in your schools. The courses are fully packed with innovative and entrepreneurial skills that will enable you to guide your students towards sustainable opportunities,” Benedetta noted.

In a separate session held for the São Tomé and Angola schools, Isabel Gonçalves and João d’Orey from MQ Research and Development, a Portuguese consulting and research SME and project partner, moderated this session, reinforcing the expectations of the trainers and the requirements for the programme.

“Africa faces significant waste management challenges, and this programme will serve as a stepping stone for you to gain the knowledge and skills to help address them”, Anthony Sarkodie Amankwah stated while addressing the participants.

The training begins online on the 2nd September on the Smart Step platform, with the first synchronous session on Wednesday, 10th September, led by Foundation CNOS-FAP ETS. These learning and live sessions on all six modules will continue till 7th November, 2025.
