CircuWasteVETAfrica at the Erasmus+ Regional Cluster Meeting for Sub-Saharan Africa

CircuWasteVETAfrica was proudly represented by AREA project manager Eleonora Vitale at the Erasmus+ Regional Cluster Meeting for Sub-Saharan Africa, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The event revolved around a theme of vital importance: “The Role of Education in the Green Transition” — a guiding principle at the heart of our project, which aims to promote circular economy skills through vocational training and international cooperation.

A particularly engaging session on developing new skills and technologies for the green transition, moderated by Danila Conte from the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, brought forward a rich exchange of perspectives. The discussion featured valuable contributions from Lala Harivelo RavaomanarivoAbdulkadir Aman HassenRui Baloi, and Tesfaye Workie, who shared inspiring experiences and good practices from both African and European contexts.

Further enriching the conversation were reflections from Aboubacarr Jallow, who presented the G.R.E.E.N. Gambia project, and Beatrice Bellet, who presented SHINE ERASMUS+ Project.

The event also showcased the wide range of Erasmus+ Key Actions, underlining the importance of building ecosystems of cooperation between Europe and Africa, and fostering synergies between higher education and vocational training through mobility, knowledge transfer, and co-designed innovation — a vision fully aligned with the mission of CircuwasteVETAfrica.

We express our sincere appreciation to the National Erasmus+ Focal Points from across Sub-Saharan Africa for their dedication and strategic role in promoting cross-border educational cooperation.

A special thank you as well to the European Commission – Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, and the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia and the African Union for making this impactful and forward-looking event possible.
