The Presbyterian Relief Services and Development (PRSD), a non-profit organisation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has joined the network of 7 other partners from Europe and Africa in the CircuwasteVETAfrica project. The Erasmus+ project, funded by the European Commission, kicked off 6 months ago, mapping the skills and development gap needs assessment within the VET institutions, and is on the way to developing courses.
The Presbyterian Relief Services and Development (PRSD) is a registered non-profit organization of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana through which the Church assists rural communities in leadership development; builds capacity for disaster preparedness and management; empowers women and youth in achieving sustainable income, promotes Vocational and Technical Education and Training (TVET), among others. These are geared towards contributing to Ghana’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ramseyer Technical Institute, an institution that operates under the organisation is accredited by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) to offer Courses such as Fashion Designing Technology, Catering and Hospitality Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, Building Construction Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Wood Construction Technology and Plumbing and Gas Technology.
The Institute has implemented and participated in several Projects, including GreenVETAfrica, an Erasmus+ Programme, Ghana TVET Voucher Project, Ghana Jobs and Skills, and Apprenticeship Programme (World Bank), Pathways for Sustainable Employment for Women and Youth Project. Their role in the CircuwasteVETAfrica project includes leading the Train the Trainers Implementation, Employer Skill Gaps and Needs, and Courses Accreditation, and contributing to all the other activities to achieve the project objectives.
They are represented by Anthony Sarkodie Amankwah, a competency-based training specialist, and Charles Asante, a project officer for Erasmus+ projects in the organisation.
